About NYBG Shop

Located at 2900 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY 10458, NYBG Shop operates as a garden center serving Bronx in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under gift shop, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

In Bronx, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in New York, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 am–6 pm. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (718) 817-8869. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, nybgshop.org.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 554 reviews, which is a strong result for a garden center in Bronx and suggests consistent service.

Bronx is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Bronx peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I recently attended Orchid Nights at the New York Botanical Garden, and as someone who visits the gardens a few times a year, it’s always a place I enjoy for a peaceful walk and a chance to reconnect with nature especially during orchid season. This visit felt a bit different, though. Orchid Nights seemed much more crowded than I’ve experienced before, which took away a little of the intimacy I usually love about the exhibit. Even so, the display itself was absolutely stunning beautifully arranged and still very much worth seeing. Afterward, we stopped by the gift shop. I’ve popped in before, but this time we really took our time exploring everything. They have a wide variety of items fragrances, soaps, candles, plants, unique planters, books, kids’ items, and branded merch like hats, tees, and totes. There were definitely some really cool and unique finds. That said, the pricing caught me off guard. I completely understand that purchases likely support the gardens, which I appreciate, but some items felt a bit over the top. For example, I picked up a simple embroidered hat thinking it would be a practical (and supportive) purchase on a rainy night only to find it priced at $68.

One of my favorite place to visit when we go to the New York Botanical Garden, in the Bronx, is their incredible shop, conveniently located across from their cafeteria at the main entrance. What’s wonderful about the shop is they have the best selection of wonderful books, gifts, house plants as well as all kinds of planting tools as well as great children’s gifts!

I wish I had more time to explore the entire Garden but made sure to visit the Van Gogh Florals Exhibit and the Conservatory. The Conservatory smelled so fresh and clean like herbs and spices. It's very peaceful and a good way to enjoy nature's natural beauty. Visiting gave me a sense of more value to life and appreciate the outdoors more.

Great selection! This place is so much bigger than it looks. Fun garden items. Loved the substantial book section. So many outdoor and house plants. Loved the selection of pots. Picked up a few bulbs to plant - wish they came from the NYBG - but what a nice momento from our visit to the garden!

Beautiful, amazing, peaceful, incredible, place to visit. Each season in this park has its own beauty. I love it mostly during spring and fall. Highly recommend to all New Yorkers and visitors of NYC.
